Editorial policy
Our guides help people plan events in museums, galleries, theatres, historic buildings and other distinctive venues. This page explains who writes them, how we choose the venues in them and how we keep them accurate.
Who writes our guides
Every guide carries the name of the person who wrote it and the date it was last updated. Our guides are written byChris Unitt (editor). When a guide covers specialist rules, such as wedding licensing or filming permits, we ask someone who works in that field to check it, and name them on the guide.
How we choose venues
We feature a venue in a round-up because it suits the occasion: its spaces, its capacity, what it allows and what it's like to hire. Every venue we feature has a listing on Venues of Note, so you can find its details and its hire page.
Venues can pay for a full listing (£195 a year + VAT) or a boost (£45 + VAT), which change how their listing looks and where it appears in our directory. Paying doesn't buy a place in a guide or a higher position in one. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored.
How we check facts
We check capacities, prices, rules and restrictions against each venue's own hire pages and terms, and rules such as licensing against official sources, which we link to. Where a venue has claimed its listing, we ask it to confirm what we say about it before we publish. Prices and policies change, so treat them as a guide and confirm with the venue before you book.
Updates and corrections
We review round-ups and cost guides at least once a year. A guide's "Updated" date changes only when its content does. If you spot a mistake or something out of date, emailhello@venuesofnote.com. We correct errors as soon as we've checked them, and say on the guide when a correction changes its advice.
How Venues of Note makes money
We earn money from venues' full listings and boosts, and from adverts on some pages. We don't take bookings or charge commission: you enquire and book with each venue directly. How listings work.
